In our small garden, children at Mashujaa in the Making learn about sustainability, responsibility, and the joy of growing their own food.

At Mashujaa in the Making, we believe in creating opportunities where children can learn both practical skills and life lessons. Just outside our safe house, we have started a small garden where the children actively take part in planting, watering, and caring for different crops.
In our garden, we currently grow tomatoes, spinach, and bananas. We have also planted avocado trees, which are still young but will bear fruit in the future. By working together, the children see how food grows and understand the value of patience, care, and responsibility.
One of the most rewarding moments was when the children got to taste the very first bananas harvested from the garden. Their smiles and excitement showed the pride of enjoying food they helped grow themselves.
“It is more than gardening — it is teaching resilience, teamwork, and sustainability.”
We dream of expanding this initiative by finding a larger piece of land outside our home. With more space, we can grow more food, strengthen local sustainability, and continue teaching the children valuable skills for their future
