Christmas at Mashujaa

A warm reflection on how Mashujaa in the Making celebrated Christmas with the children, marked by care, community and shared experiences. The day included meaningful gestures, festive meals, joyful moments and a special visit to Nairobi National Park. A reminder of the importance of safety, belonging and positive memories for children.

Celebrating Christmas with Joy, Care and Shared Experiences

Christmas at Mashujaa in the Making was a day marked by warmth, dignity and meaningful moments for the children. Through simple but thoughtful gestures, the celebration became a reminder of the importance of safety, belonging and positive experiences in children’s lives.

The day began with a beautiful act of kindness. A generous woman offered to braid the children’s hair as a Christmas gift, creating moments of care, confidence and joy. The children also received new clothes, kindly donated by a children’s clothing shop. We are deeply grateful for this support. In addition, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mølleplassen Spesial Barnehage for the thoughtful gifts that helped make the day even more special.

Food and celebration brought everyone together. A festive meal was prepared and shared, including meat served with chapati. Music, dancing and laughter filled the space, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. We were also grateful for visits from friends and supporters who joined the celebration and brought gifts, contributing to a strong sense of community.

Later in the day, the children were taken on a special trip to Nairobi National Park. For many, this was a first opportunity to experience Kenya’s wildlife up close. Seeing animals such as lions and leopards in their natural environment sparked excitement, curiosity and wonder. The visit was filled with smiles, shared laughter and memorable moments that will stay with the children for a long time.

After the park visit, the group shared a good meal before returning home safely. The day ended with tired but happy children, carrying memories of celebration, care and discovery.

Christmas at Mashujaa in the Making was more than a holiday celebration. It was a reflection of our commitment to creating safe, inclusive and joyful spaces where children can feel valued, supported and free to simply be children.

We are sincerely thankful to everyone who contributed to making this day possible.
